I really agree with this statement because a true friend always want you to be good, they will do their best to help you. If you make a mistake, of course you don’t want to hear about it, it might because you still think what you did was right or you just don’t want to talk about it for a while, usually, someone who is not your true friend will say that you did nothing wrong, it was someone else's fault, and that might make you make another bigger mistake. But your true friend will tell you the truth even though they know that you might be mad after they tell you, but they’re just trying to let you know that what you did was wrong before you make a bigger mistake, and they will also help you to fix the problem and make sure you don’t make it again.

Think about this, if one of your very close friend was very mad because someone else told her that there are somebody talking behind their back, will you say “Yeah, I heard they talking about you too! They are so mean, come on, let’s go talk back to them!” or “Calm down, we don’t know if it is truth yet, do you want to wait or go ask them kindly? It might be a misunderstanding.” If you are a true friend, you will definitely choose the second choice because you don’t want your friend to lost other friends or become enemies with her classmates.  

But sometimes, your true friend will tell you the truth when they know it is the best time, because they don’t want you to become more angry and do something bad. Remember, your true friend will never lie to you and will always tell you the truth.
